Public Sans for NSW Government communication
Typography plays a key role in ensuring information is legible and accessible to customers. Public Sans is a free, open source typeface, to be used across all levels of our brand, making information clear and easy to read.
Official Public Sans resources
Download the official Public Sans release, use the official project website, and apply the typeface consistently across NSW digital, document, and presentation work.
Please download the typeface below and follow the directions to install it.
Download the official USWDS Public Sans v2.001 archive.
Visit the official Public Sans website for background and project context.
Review the official release notes for changes in the v2.001 release.
Alternate typeface
As Public Sans is not a standard system font, it may not always be available; for example, when presentations or documents are sent to a third party that does not have Public Sans installed. In these cases, when a fallback or alternate font is required, our alternate font is Arial which is available on all operating systems. Arial is only to be used when Public Sans is not available.
Install the font
Start with the official release archive, install the font on your device, and restart your tools if the family does not appear immediately.
- Download the official Public Sans v2.001 ZIP.
- Unzip the archive and install the font files on your operating system.
- Restart Word, PowerPoint, or design software if the font family does not appear straight away.
